GIWAS – the Walloon Aerospace and Space Industries Group – is the federation that brings together and represents the key players of the aerospace and space sector in Wallonia.
Its mission is to position Wallonia as an internationally recognised aerospace hub by promoting technological excellence, research and innovation, and economic attractiveness, serving civil society while addressing defence and sovereignty challenges.
GIWAS brings together over 80 companies and organisations across the entire value chain, representing more than 11,000 highly skilled jobs and generating an annual turnover exceeding €3.5 billion.
The federation represents and defends sector interests with public authorities, fosters cooperation between industrial, academic, scientific and institutional stakeholders, and enhances the industry’s attractiveness for talent, strategic projects and investment. Its actions are structured around five thematic working groups: space, aeronautics, research, SMEs and defence, which unite experts to drive concrete initiatives and deliver high-impact recommendations.
GIWAS positions itself as a dual-use aerospace actor, promoting the development of critical civil technologies designed to be robust, secure and fully compatible with defence, security and sovereignty requirements.
