The story continues between Thales Belgium and NATO AWACS !

Thales Belgium has once again been renewed for Depot Level Maintenance (DLM) activities linked to NATO’s AWACS (Airborne Warning & Control System). The Service Contract has been extended for the next 10 years, and includes Obsolescence Management and Continuous Engineering, under the FLEP (Final Lifetime Extension Program). It aims to maintain the NATO’s fleet of E-3A AWACS aircraft operational until 2035.

NATO operates a fleet of 14 Boeing E-3A Airborne Warning & Control System (AWACS) aircraft. Since 2006, Thales Belgium is responsible for the maintenance of Digital and Analog audio system, Radio Control equipment, Several Cockpit panels and control systems. To this end, the company has set up a lab and trained engineers to maintain and repair all delivered Mid-Term, CNS/ATM and FLEP equipment as well as track, report and mitigate obsolescence issues on components, equipment and tools.

Thales Belgium is onboard of USAF & NATO’s AWACS aircraft with its Secure Multi-level Inter-Communications System (MACS).
